Construction Layout Project Manager

The Construction Layout Project Manager is responsible for performing precise field layout and staking to support construction projects. This role ensures that structures, utilities, and site improvements are built in accordance with design plans by accurately transferring design information from plans to the field.

Reports to: Director of Operations (or Project Surveyor)
Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform construction layout and staking for buildings, roadways, utilities, and site improvements.
  • Interpret engineering plans, site drawings, and specifications to establish accurate control points.
  • Set and verify grades, elevations, alignments, and offsets for construction activities.
  • Utilize GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment to perform layout tasks.
  • Conduct as-built surveys to verify completed work matches design specifications.
  • Maintain clear and accurate field notes, sketches, and digital records.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and field crews to ensure proper layout execution.
  • Verify accuracy of control points and layout data before and during construction.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies between field conditions and design plans.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate degree or technical certification in surveying, construction, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of construction layout or land surveying experience preferred.
  • Experience with GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors required.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or survey software preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Proficiency in using surveying instruments and related software.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Pay: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour
